Volunteer

Wyre Forest Refugee Support Group is always on the lookout for more volunteers.

The main volunteering role is befriending with families or single people.

Volunteers are people who first of all are friendly and can empathise with people seeking sanctuary who have been through horrific trauma for several years, having fled their country, giving up their homes, jobs and ways of life to face resettlement in a totally new country with a new language, culture, climate and political system. Their children face being placed in a school or college where they donโ€™t speak the language and where expectations are very different from anywhere they have been educated before.

The role is to provide a friendly welcome and help families to settle into their new life with the aim, once re-orientated, to get work and fully integrate into our society.

If you would like to find out more about volunteering please get in touch for a chat. If you decide to join then you will need to have a DBS and undergo induction training. Full support is offered.
